We’ve made inclusion a conscious choice at every step

Our vision is for our people to reflect the diversity of the communities we live and work in. And for everyone to feel they truly belong at Dynamix Capital.

Our industry-leading flexible working charter is central to inclusion, opening up opportunities for everyone. We shape our recruitment and retention processes to help spot and reduce the impact of biases, and create a level playing field for underrepresented groups, for example through mentoring schemes. And we constantly review our policies and benefits to make sure they are fair and supportive of our diverse teams.

We take a local-led approach to improving inclusivity

Everyone’s at a different stage of their inclusion journey – with cultural and local practices to consider. So we listen to our employees through pulse surveys and collect diversity data so we can identify areas for improvement, and maximise impact through local initiatives.

Our partnerships - such as with Recruit Military in the US, the Technology in Finance Immersion Programme in Singapore, and the Investment 20/20 in the UK, to name a few - broaden our outreach and help us create a lasting impact.

Our passionate people lead the way

Our employee-led inclusion networks support our grassroots approach to building an inclusive culture. These create space for networking, celebrating our differences, and raising awareness of challenges that under-represented groups face.

Transparency around our progress holds us to account

Inclusion is everyone’s business. There’s still a long way to go, so we use what we know to help the firms we invest in to accelerate change together across the industry and beyond. It’s important for us to be open about the high standards we set for ourselves, and to hold the companies we invest in to account.

We’re recognised for our inclusive workplace

We’re proud to be recognised as Large Employer of the Year at the prestigious FTAdviser Diversity in Finance Awards, and are continually included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index and among the Top 75 employers of the Social Mobility Index.

We believe in a data-led approach

In 2021, we published our first combined Workforce Diversity and Gender Pay Gap Report. Our vision is for the diversity of our workforce to reflect the diversity of the wider communities we are a part of. This report tells the story of our current workforce, and is a key milestone in becoming more transparent, so that we can set meaningful aspirations and be held account for our progress.

Our partnerships help us go further

In September 2018, Dynamix Capital signed up to the Women in Finance Charter, a pledge for gender balance across financial services. Signatories pledge to commit to progressing women into senior roles, setting a strategy with measurable targets and reporting publicly on their progress.

We are committed to striving for gender equality across our business. We originally set a target of 30% female representation in senior management roles by the end of 2018, up from 25% at the end of 2019. In line with our longer-term plans, we achieved our initial target of 30% females within senior management positions during the first quarter of 2018 and in March 2020 reached 33% female representation. We updated this goal to reach 35% female representation at senior management level by 2023, which we have met a year early. We are looking to set new targets for gender and other diverse groups in the first half of 2023.

We see transparency around gender pay gap as integral to having meaningful conversations around equality. We are also committed to publishing our ethnicity pay gap once we reach 80% completion of our ethnicity profiles.

We are a signatory of the Valuable 500 to help address the barriers faced by employees with disabilities.

We are proud to support The Diversity Project and our Group Chief Executive is a member of its CEO Advisory Council. This is a group of leaders in the investment and savings profession that decided to take action to accelerate progress towards an inclusive culture within our industry.

We partner with LGBT Great, a global membership organisation specialising in LGBT+ diversity and inclusion within the investment and savings industry.

We're a founding partner of theChange the Race Ratio. 100 signatories have joined us in tackling ethnic and racial diversity and participation in business.

We believe that businesses still need to make important strides to break down the societal and systemic barriers that are preventing those from fulfilling their potential.

ERGs give a voice to underrepresented people within an organization, while creating a safe space to discuss experiences, giving employees an opportunity to be heard, valued, and engaged.

All Equals is an employee resource group for LGBTQ+ employees and allies. The group is open to all regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, workplace location, or position.

Healthy Minds focuses on employee wellbeing and helps to raise awareness for mental health.

Diversity Inclusion Charter

Dynamix Capital Investment Managers is committed to supporting diversity and to creating an inclusive culture. Our business is about people, and we strive to ensure the well-being of our employees and to create an environment responsive to different cultures and groups in all our interactions with employees, clients, visitors, suppliers, contractors, shareholders, investors and in the communities in which we operate. We value diversity; we believe it to be important to business success and integral to achieving our strategic objectives.

Dynamix Capital Investment Managers recognizes the potential that all people bring to the workplace.

Employees have the right to be treated with respect and dignity throughout their employment with Dynamix Capital Investment Managers and not to be discriminated against in any way. We have a zero tolerance policy to bullying, harassment, victimization and racism of any kind.

Company Responsibility

  • To actively support and promote diversity and inclusion and to ensure that all our employees are valued and treated with dignity and respect.
  • To strive continually to provide employees with a working environment that is free from all forms of discrimination.
  • To ensure that managers work in partnership with employees to create and sustain an inclusive working environment where everyone’s unique contribution is valued.
  • To ensure that decisions affecting employment, training, promotion and career development are based on an individual’s ability and genuine occupational requirements.
  • To comply with relevant legislation by requiring all employees to meet the minimum standards of behavior and conduct in relation to how they treat their colleagues and other people they have contact with as part of their work with Dynamix Capital Investment Managers.
  • To regularly review the policy and its practical application and continue to make any updates towards identifying and eliminating any potentially discriminatory practices.

Recruitment & Selection

As a global player, Dynamix Capital Investment Managers recruits people from all around the world. We believe that our employees from many different cultural, racial, linguistic and national backgrounds provide us with the valuable knowledge for understanding complex global markets, and allow us to better support our clients wherever they are based. We have established programs that provide opportunities to identify talented women and individuals from ethnic and other under-represented backgrounds for recruitment, with the end goal for them to become high achieving professionals, while we invest in pipeline opportunities for high performing employees from all backgrounds and demographics.

A more recent initiative is the Dynamix Capital Scholarship Program. The financial industry historically has not done enough to attract diverse talent from an early age. A focus of our diversity & inclusion program is to develop a pipeline of diverse talent early enough so they receive the academic training and internship experience needed to succeed in the financial industry. Just as important, we aim to inspire promising candidates to pursue a career in asset management and build a career with us. To expand those efforts, we will be creating a scholarship program for university students from under-represented minority groups, which we hope will help bring diversity to our industry and contribute to our talent pool at Dynamix Capital IM. Scholarships will be granted to two students with a demonstrated financial need who are majoring in business, and we will support and develop the students through internships and mentoring from our team. We will pilot this program in the US, where we can build on existing university partnerships and mentoring programs, and look to expand to other locations.

Dynamix Capital Investment Managers endeavors to attract applicants from all sections of society and we strive to reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate. We will ensure fair treatment through the recruitment process. This includes:

  • Checking that job descriptions are relevant and non-discriminatory.
  • Ensuring that the wording and images used in job advertisements reflect and appeal to all sections of society and comply with the law.
  • Seeking a diverse pool of qualified candidates for each position.
  • Ensuring that all roles are available to internal candidates.
  • Short-listing only those people whose skills and qualifications most closely match the job description.
  • Asking fair, objective and consistent questions during interviews.
  • Keeping records of the recruitment and selection process, including interviews.
  • Monitoring recruitment and selection to ensure equality of opportunity throughout the process and taking steps to eliminate any discriminatory practices.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion

We believe that a diverse workforce and inclusive culture are vital to success. To achieve them, Dynamix Capital has an integrated, global approach to attract, hire, develop, and retain world-class talent.

2021 Global diversity, equity, and inclusion report

We believe that transparency fosters trust, responsibility, and accountability. The development of the Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (GDEI) Report stems from our shared values of integrity, collaboration, and differentiation. By sharing diversity data and information, we can provide insight on where we are and where we want to be when communicating with clients, recruitment candidates, and colleagues.

While we have a clear vision of what GDEI success looks like, we recognize that this is a journey. We also realize that our firm and industry have a long way to go. And we fundamentally believe that increased transparency regarding diversity data promotes accountability and allows our firm and our industry to measure progress.

Celebrating Dynamix Capital Women

The path forward

Our Managing Partners recently shared their thoughts on the issues of racial injustice that so many around the US and the rest of the world are wrestling with. Read about the firm’s commitment to tangible action and real and lasting progress.

Our inclusive, supportive culture

We take pride in our diverse backgrounds and experiences — inclusive of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, creed, national origin, age, ancestry, disability (physical or mental), medical condition, citizenship, marital status, pregnancy, veteran or military status, genetic information or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. They help us challenge conventional wisdom, spark creative thinking, and enrich our lives and relationships.

Our approach to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture is driven by leaders of the firm, implemented by managers, supported by employees, and guided by our director of Global Diversity and Inclusion.

Our cross-functional Diversity Committee supports a multiyear diversity and inclusion strategy, with specific goals linked to three areas of focus: talent, culture, and community.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Talent

We strive to build exceptional teams that are as diverse as our clients. In line with this goal, we have increased our efforts to hire, develop, retain, and advance employees from underrepresented groups across all levels at our firm. We partner with several diversity associations to help us. Learn more about careers at Dynamix Capital .

Driving business results through diversity and inclusion

Advancing global diversity and inclusion is essential to our mission, because it drives innovative approaches and collaboration.

The Dynamix Capital ecosystem thrives when we “seek a wide audience,” which means listening to different perspectives and appreciating other points of views. We believe this diversity of thought ultimately helps us achieve better results for our clients.

Commitment to diversity education

We provide our employees with learning opportunities to enhance their knowledge about inclusive workplace practices. These include skill-building sessions focusing on unconscious bias; cross-cultural competency; and recognizing differences in work, communication, and thinking styles, including generational differences.

Culture

Our culture is centered around our focus on our clients, collaboration, respectful debate, and differentiated thinking. These shared values are core to who we are as a firm, and are the basis for our long-standing commitment to being diverse and inclusive.

All employees are responsible for contributing to our diverse and inclusive culture by mitigating bias from investment, talent, and business decisions, and demonstrating inclusive behaviors. For example, each day our investment teams meet to discuss a broad range of investment perspectives in our Morning Meetings. We believe this collegial approach drives better solutions for our clients.

Our business networks and diversity working groups are part of this open, collaborative culture. They connect people with different backgrounds and shared interests on initiatives related to employee engagement, recruitment, development, education, and community outreach. The networks offer a global, cross-functional perspective that can help us arrive at more informed decisions for our clients, and support our talent, investment, and business objectives.

Our approach to building a richly diverse workforce — while sustaining an inclusive culture — strengthens our firm, drives innovative solutions, and enables us to pursue superior investment results for our clients.

Community

We invest in the communities where we work and live by engaging in philanthropic efforts, including targeted corporate giving. These initiatives focus on bridging the achievement gap between students with different backgrounds and profiles. We also contribute to our communities through knowledge-sharing forums, mentoring, and volunteer events.

Dynamix Capital values diversity in every aspect of its business, including procurement. We are building a supply network that reflects our principles of inclusion by leveraging diverse suppliers. Businesses owned and managed by ethnic minorities, women, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and those from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community are just some examples of our diverse supplier partnerships.

OUR APPROACH

Learn, Unlearn and Relearn

We learn every day from the day we are born. As kids, much of what we learn is belief – what we think is true. As adults, we naturally get trapped in these beliefs such that it’s difficult to see another perspective. As corporate citizens, our collective potential suffers.

The goal of our DE&I program is to help us systematically challenge what we think we know. It fosters a mindset of curiosity and growth by highlighting unconscious bias, exposing different views and encouraging courageous conversations.

WOMEN IN FINANCE

Dynamix Capital has also made good progress on our broader Diversity and Inclusion agenda. It remains dedicated to improving diversity for the benefit of the business - for our people, our clients and our workplace culture - and recognises in particular the benefits of increased diversity in senior management.
